The Chicago White Sox have had a quiet offseason. Apart from the Dylan Cease move, not much has been spoken. Rumors about the transaction are still circulating.
Yes, the teams made some mediocre moves. But they haven’t produced one that will thrill fans.
The White Sox will almost probably make a major trade this summer if they acquire the best player available. At this stage, any action taken is probably going to benefit the squad later on rather than now.
The White Sox are one of ten teams that, according to MLB.com, might still make a splashy move, suggesting that they might trade Cease.
“The 2023 season was a bummer for the White Sox, and their biggest move in the wake of a front office overhaul was a trade in which theyreceived five players(including Michael Soroka, Jared Shuster and Nicky Lopez) for reliever Aaron Bummer.”
Anthony Castrovince added the logically noisy move.
“The Dodgers have the potential to improve even further this winter, though we are hesitant to say so. They have the young, controllable pitching that the Sox would probably desire in exchange for Cease, though they would be especially hesitant to surrender Bobby Miller. Perhaps Emmet Sheehan and/or Gavin Stone might be the center of a package deal.”
Los Angeles Dodgers have a decent enough system to pique the interest of the front office if the White Sox decide to pursue Cease. Emmet Sheehan, Bobby Miller, and other prospects might provide Chicago with youthful, manageable arms.
Teams are searching for young, controlled arms, but the team that signs Cease may also benefit from this trade. With two years remaining on his contract, the team should receive a better return overall.
If the White Sox make a big trade this summer, it will be for the ace right-hand pitcher.
