WVLT-Knoxville, Tennessee Tennessee football finished in the top 20 of the final Associated Press Top 25 poll of the season after defeating Iowa 35-0 in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl.
The Vols jumped eight spots from 25 to 17 in the rankings. This is the team that has risen the highest in the last poll round.
In the final poll, Tennessee is one of six SEC schools.
The Vols haven’t placed in the top twenty in the AP poll consecutively since the 2003 and 2004 seasons. This is the first time that has happened.
Tennessee has qualified for a spot in the final AP poll for the 46th time.
Michigan, the national champion, received unanimous votes to rank first.
