When will Joel Embiid return to the 76ers’ lineup?
Joel Embiid won’t be in uniform for the Philadelphia 76ers for a week.
Embiid was seen wearing street clothes and sitting on the bench with his teammates for the first time since his most recent setback. After traveling for one game to play the Atlanta Hawks, the Sixers returned home, and Embiid was there to provide support.
When is he going to have the chance to assist? Given Embiid’s two different setbacks in the past month, that is currently the biggest issue surrounding the Sixers.
What’s Happening To Embiid?
Embiid’s absence against the Sacramento Kings on Friday night was his tenth of the season. Embiid has only two consecutive absences due to minor setbacks earlier in the year.
That changed on December 22 against the Toronto Raptors when he went down with a sprained ankle. Embiid missed four games due to his absence, which began on Christmas Day and continued until the Sixers’ final game of 2023. He was cleared to play against the Chicago Bulls on January 2.
After playing 31 minutes, Embiid said he felt OK physically in the Bulls victory by 13 points. In the team’s crushing 36-point defeat against the New York Knicks, Embiid acknowledged that he had injured his knee. From thinking he was OK, he missed the next three games because of edema.
Head coach Nick Nurse of the Sixers expressed optimism that Embiid might play again this week as the team got ready to play the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday. The Kings game on Friday came and went without Embid.
