Tennessee and the blue-chip receiver are a natural fit. Jake Merklinger, a four-star quarterback signed by the Vols, played prep football at Calvary Day School in Savannah, where Blackshear completed his junior year of high school.
Although Blackshear is still in the early stages of his recruiting, he visited Tennessee and Georgia this autumn. The native of Savannah traveled to Knoxville to watch the Vols’ late-season setback to the Bulldogs of his home state. Blackshear has not yet visited Florida State, although he did visit Georgia earlier this month.
Currently, Tennessee football has five commits in its recruiting class for 2025, but none of them are wide receivers. Though all four of those five commits are natives of Atlanta, four of them are from Georgia. Among the many elite prospects the Vols are targeting in the 2025 cycle is George MacIntyre, a five-star quarterback.
Blackshear is rated as a four-star recruit by 247sports composite, which places him as the No. 341 player in the nation. Estimated to be 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, the prospect is ranked No. 37 in Georgia and No. 47 among receivers in the 2025 recruiting class.Georgia in Blackshear’s top group.
