Tyron Smith, a left lineman, will not play for the Dallas Cowboys in Week 16 against the Miami Dolphins because of a back ailment. Smith was downgraded on Saturday after being originally rated as questionable.
Chuma Edoga, making his sixth start of the year, will start in Smith’s stead in this encounter.
During the Cowboys’ Week 15 game against the Buffalo Bills, Smith sustained a back injury. Guard Zack Martin, who had a quad injury during the Bills game, joined him in missing practice this week due to the injury.
Despite being classified as doubtful at this time, Martin is supposedly recovering from his injuries faster than Smith.
Smith has started 11 games this season and is an eight-time Pro Bowl player. His absence might be significant for the Cowboys, who are trying to turn things around after losing to the Bills 31-10 the previous week.
Dallas is now leading the conference with a 10-4 record.
