It’s possible that the Boston Red Sox are planning a deal or two.
Boston is situated in an intriguing way. Although it’s obvious that the Red Sox need to improve their rotation, it appears that they won’t be making any purchases this offseason. The Red Sox, it is said, are truly aiming to reduce payroll.
Over the past few weeks, All-Star closer Kenley Jansen has been mentioned in trade discussions. Although he made an impression with Boston last season, he might be leaving the city.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are purportedly one team that could consider acquiring Jansen if he is dealt, as reported by Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
“The Angels continue to show interest in free-agent (Enrique) Hernández, but fear he prefers a return to the Dodgers, according to a source briefed on the team’s discussions,” stated Rosenthal. “Hernández also is drawing interest from other clubs, and the Dodgers seem more focused on adding a high-leverage reliever, perhaps Ryan Brasier as a free agent or the Red Sox’s Kenley Jansen in a trade.”
Throughout the MLB offseason, Los Angeles has been the most active team, and it appears that they are planning to take another action.
Jansen would be a great addition for the Dodgers as they are looking to add a bullpen. After playing for Los Angeles during his first 12 seasons of his career, Jansen rose to become one of the game’s best relievers.
After the 2021 season, he parted ways with the Dodgers, but a reunion would be very sensible. Boston might be ready to spend a little bit in free agency if it trades Jansen away.
