Just one day after having their five-game winning streak snapped, the Boston Bruins hit the road against Ottawa Senators.
The Boston Bruins, who lost 3-2 at home to the Carolina Hurricanes on Wednesday, will play the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday in the second leg of a back-to-back.
Jordan Martinook’s breakaway goal late in the third period gave the Hurricanes their first lead again, ending Boston’s five-game winning streak and nine-game point streak. Brad Marchand scored twice in the third period to erase a deficit.
“Having a chance to recover is fantastic, but you can’t let the outcome of the last game control your day the day after,” Marchand stated. If not, it will have an impact on it. Your goal should be to just show up to the rink, work on yourself, and focus on areas where you can help the team.
The team needs to turn things around quickly in order to get back on track. Although Matt Poitras was pulled against Carolina for load management, it seems likely that he will be back in the starting lineup when Bruins coach Jim Montgomery speaks to the media at 5:40 p.m. ET in Ottawa.
The third defensive duo is the subject of the other lineup query. Derek Forbort has been starting games with Parker Wotherspoon and Kevin Shattenkirk in alternating roles, although Montgomery stated that each night’s starting player will be determined mostly by variables like as health and scheduling.
Montgomery stated on Wednesday, “Sometimes it’s a matchup [decision], but we want to keep everybody involved.” “It’s not really a Wotherspoon/Shattenkirk platoon, in my opinion. All that will depend on is where each person is at.
Despite being last in the Atlantic Division, the Senators have won five of their previous six games and scored four goals or more. Despite their record, which is 4-1-1 over that time, the Bruins are not taking them lightly.
Montgomery stated on Wednesday, “Ottawa is dangerous because they have faced a lot of adversity throughout the entire year.” They really are quite talented. They’re playing excellently, and they still have a mathematical chance to make the playoffs, but they’re playing the proper way right now.
