DONE DEAL: Possible Successors to Mike Bobo, the Offensive Coordinator for the Georgia Bulldogs

The Georgia Bulldogs are in search of a new offensive coordinator following the departure of Mike Bobo. After a season filled with ups and downs, Bobo’s exit has sparked immediate speculation about who will take over one of the most high-profile offensive jobs in college football.

Bobo, who returned to Georgia as offensive coordinator in 2023, faced scrutiny despite leading a unit that ranked among the top in the SEC in scoring. However, with Georgia aiming to sustain its dominance in the SEC and national landscape, head coach Kirby Smart now faces the challenge of selecting the right candidate to guide the Bulldogs’ offense forward.

Several names have already surfaced as potential successors to Bobo, each bringing a unique skill set and vision for the offense.

Todd Monken

One of the most talked-about candidates is Todd Monken, who previously served as Georgia’s offensive coordinator from 2020 to 2022, helping lead the Bulldogs to back-to-back national championships. Monken’s innovative passing schemes and ability to develop quarterbacks could make him an ideal choice if he is willing to return from the NFL, where he currently serves as the offensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens.

Joe Brady

A name synonymous with explosive offenses, Joe Brady gained national attention as LSU’s passing game coordinator during their 2019 championship season. Brady has since moved to the NFL, currently serving as the offensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills. If he considers a return to college football, Georgia could provide him with a premier opportunity to showcase his offensive acumen.

Buster Faulkner

Currently the offensive coordinator at Georgia Tech, Faulkner has revitalized their offense and is no stranger to Athens. He previously worked with Georgia as a quality control coach, making him a familiar face for the Bulldogs. His offensive philosophy aligns well with Smart’s vision, and his recent success at Georgia Tech makes him a compelling option.

Kendal Briles

The offensive coordinator at TCU, Briles has long been associated with high-powered offenses. His experience in both the SEC and Big 12, coupled with his ability to develop quarterbacks and implement a fast-paced attack, could make him a strong candidate.

As Georgia looks to fill this key role, the decision will be critical in determining the Bulldogs’ offensive success in the coming seasons. With national championship aspirations still in play, Smart and his staff must carefully evaluate their options to ensure Georgia remains a powerhouse in college football.
