An MLB player who does not play in Los Angeles was ranked as the league’s top player for the first time in thirteen years. That guy is none other than Ronald Acuña Jr., who wears No. 13 for the Atlanta Braves.
After being crowned MLB Network’s player of the year, Acuña recently appeared to discuss the tremendous award.
Acuña answered some concerns about his designation as baseball’s best player when he and Franco Garcia, the Braves’ interpreter, joined MLB Network. Franco didn’t have to say anything, which was the biggest surprise of the interview. Ronald’s English has become so much better that he answered every question on his own!
These are some of the queries posed to him. Ron Darling mentioned that Acuña makes him think of Rickey Henderson, a former teammate in Oakland. Henderson is regarded as one of the greatest base stealers and leadoff batters in MLB history. Is that the kind of legacy Acuña wishes to leave behind? Darling questioned.
Naturally, I aspire to be like Rickey Henderson. In his running and defensive play, I want to emulate that in my own game.” – Acuña
After the Braves season ended, Ronald was questioned about the relationship between baseball and Venezuela and the significance of returning home to play for his native nation.
“It means a lot to me that my people may watch me perform live for the first time when I go. Man, playing in your own country is insane. I play hard, and you never know when someone is seeing you for the first time. Some people talk nuts. I play because of this. – Acuña
When asked what it would take to repeat as the top player on the list the following year, Acuña gave this comment.
“I need to play like I did last year, maintain my health, and aim to improve upon it. That’s it; simply proceed. – Acuña
Acuña takes that hard-working mentality with him every time he steps on the diamond. That’s what makes him so successful. I think Acuña is preparing for another strong season in 2024!
