Derek Forbort did not participate in Monday’s Climate Pledge Arena game against the Kraken, but with some introspection, the defenseman for the Boston Bruins is prepared to go on and give it his all.
The 31-year-old missed Boston’s shootout loss to Seattle but was active in the team’s previous ten games. But because he missed a team meeting, Forbort was left off the roster. At Warrior Ice Arena on Thursday, the blueliner admitted to missing his alarm and failing to check it the previous evening.
Forbort has struggled with injuries this season, but as Boston gets ready for Thursday’s game at TD Garden against the Vegas Golden Knights, he hopes to show that Monday’s incident doesn’t define who he is. The D-man disclosed whose teammate, who was absent on Monday, gave him encouraging words.
Forbort stated, “You have to learn from it first.” “You’ll get through this,” Jake DeBrusk texted me the first message. It’s a horrible feeling that stinks, but that’s life.
Forbort is expected to miss another game because head coach Jim Montgomery informed media prior to Thursday’s game against the Golden Knights that there won’t be any adjustments made to the defensive pairings.
