The starting lineup for Leicester City against relegation-threatened QPR at the King Power Stadium, where teenager Ben Nelson will make his debut in the league at home
Ben Nelson is chosen by Enzo Maresca to start for Leicester City against QPR in place of the suspended Jannik Vestergaard. Ricardo Pereira is not included in the squad.
Despite doing well to keep himself fit, Ricardo is missing from the Championship for just the second time this year, and his absence at King Power Stadium may be a major loss. Dennis Praet begins the game in attacking midfield, and Hamza Choudhury fills in as a hybrid full-back.
One of the two changes from the City team that was defeated by Leeds a little over a week ago is Praet for Ricardo; the other is Nelson in place of Vestergaard. Other contenders included Conor Coady and Callum Doyle, but the teenager gets the team’s first home league start.
Nelson’s inclusion will see Wout Faes play as the central defender when City move into a back three. James Justin will play on the left.
In the front, Patson Daka maintains his spot after receiving Maresca’s open backing following his one-on-one miss at Leeds. The two strikers on the bench are Jamie Vardy and Tom Cannon; Kelechi Iheanacho is once again not included.
Moreover, Harry Winks, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and Stephy Mavididi rejoin the squad feeling rejuvenated following their midweek FA Cup match against Bournemouth. Starting in City’s front three is Abdul Fatawu, who scored the game-winning goal on the south coast after coming off the bench.
City (4-3-3): Winks, Praet, Dewsbury-Hall; Fatawu, Daka, Mavididi; Hermansen; Choudhury, Nelson, Faes, Justin. Stolarczyk, Doyle, Souttar, Doyle, Albrighton, Marcal, Cannon, and Vardy are the substitutes.
