Breaking News: Patty Gasso Signs 5-Year Contract Extension to Remain at Oklahoma Until 2030

 

Patty Gasso, the iconic head coach of the University of Oklahoma softball team, has signed a five-year contract extension that will keep her at the helm of the Sooners program through 2030. The extension, which was officially announced today, solidifies Gasso’s long-term commitment to OU and further cements her legacy as one of the most successful and respected figures in NCAA Division I softball.

 

Gasso, who has been the driving force behind Oklahoma’s dominance in the sport for over three decades, has led the Sooners to eight national championships and a multitude of conference titles. Her remarkable coaching career includes a 1,515–352–2 record, placing her third in career wins among Division I softball coaches, with the highest winning percentage (.811). She is also tied for the most national championships in D1 softball history with Arizona’s Mike Candrea, each with eight titles.

 

Under Gasso’s leadership, Oklahoma has become a perennial powerhouse in college softball, consistently competing at the highest level and consistently reaching the Women’s College World Series. Gasso’s innovative coaching style, ability to recruit elite talent, and dedication to player development have transformed the Sooners into one of the most feared teams in the nation.

 

Oklahoma Athletics Director Joe Castiglione praised Gasso’s commitment and impact on the program, stating, “Patty has not only built one of the most successful programs in college sports, but she has done so with incredible integrity and passion. This extension allows her to continue leading the Sooners for years to come, and we’re thrilled to have her remain part of the OU family.”
