Joel Embiid, a talented player for the Philadelphia 76ers, gained notoriety on social media early in his career. After significant performances, he would frequently troll opponents or just post things to stir things up. He’s been more subdued with his online persona in recent years. Having said that, he recently went online to honor a terrible passing in the pop culture scene.
It was revealed earlier this week that Akira Toriyama,68, has gone away. His creation of the popular television shows Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z made him a well-known manga artist. Even now, when it was first produced in the late 1980s, anime enthusiasts continue to like the show.
Many people raced to social media to pay their respects to Toriyama after hearing of his passing. One of them, Embiid, shared a post wishing a couple a speedy and peaceful death. The message included a gif of Dragon Ball’s protagonist Goku as well.
Embiid continues to recover from the knee injury he sustained against the Golden State Warriors when he isn’t posting on social media. Though his return date is still unknown, the reigning MVP is still expected to play this season.
Prior to suffering an injury, Embiid appeared to be headed for yet another MVP award. The Sixers star averaged 35.3 points, 11.3 rebounds, and 5.7 assists in 34 games.
The Sixers are making every effort to try and survive without the services of their best player. With a 35-28 record, they have dropped to seventh place in the rankings, a minor decline.
