Nelly Korda American professional golfer officially say a big yes to 14-years contract to…
The pro golfer, currently ranked No. 1 on the LPGA Tour, has been in a relationship with Chicago Blackhawks center Andreas Athanasiou since 2019. Although they tend to keep their personal lives on the more private side, the couple has given fans a few glimpses into their relationship over the years.
“It’s pretty fun, it’s nerve-wracking,” the Canadian-born hockey pro told TSN about how he was feeling while seeing his girlfriend compete in the 2022 Canadian Women’s Open.
He added, “I don’t really like watching, I get pretty nervous behind the shot.”
From their relationship debut to how they have supported each other, here’s everything to know about Nelly Korda and Andreas Athanasiou’s relationship.
It’s not clear when Korda and Athanasiou began dating, but the pro athletes were publicly linked for the first time in 2019. They reportedly debuted their relationship on Instagram with a now-deleted selfie posted on Thanksgiving Day.
In July 2022, Athanasiou signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the Chicago Blackhawks. The following month, while competing at the Canadian Women’s Open with her boyfriend in attendance, Korda gave a nod of support to Athanasiou’s new team.
While on the 17th hole, the pro golfer could be seen in a video posted on LPGA’s Twitter (now known as X) smiling and wearing a Blackhawks jersey — which did not bear a number or name — as she walked on the green while the announcers discussed Athanasiou’s career.
The Blackhawks account replied to the video, “Things you love to see.”
Korda and Athanasiou have kept their romance mainly out of the spotlight over the years since they were first linked in 2019. They have not attended any red carpet events together and do not post on social media about each other or their relationship. Athanasiou has a private Instagram account with no posts, while Korda typically sticks to sharing about golf on her Instagram profile.
