Dan Skipper, ready to go to work…
For one more season, the seasoned offensive line reserve will return to Detroit. In a one-year free agency agreement, the Lions and Skipper have extended the franchise’s tallest player’s tenure to 2024. The news of the re-signing was originally reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
In his sixth season with the Lions, Skipper participated in 11 games. For the most part of his career, the reserve lineman has been used as a backup tackle and de facto blocking tight end, however he did perform passably in five games back in 2022 as an emergency starter at guard.
Since joining the Lions in 2017, the 29-year-old Skipper has participated in over 40 trades, including multiple journeys from the active roster to the practice squad.
According to ESPN, Skipper, who has played for the Lions for portions of the previous seven seasons, and the team agreed to a new one-year contract on Tuesday, he will return in 2024.
