Buddy Hield, Sixers aware of importance of remaining competitive down the stretch.
The Philadelphia 76ers are in the thick of the Eastern Conference standings with only a few weeks remaining in the regular season. Several teams have closed the gap after holding a clear lead as a top-three team.
At 36-28, the Sixers are now sixth in the league. Still, four teams are within two games of them. The New York Knicks are one of those clubs, and the Sixers will play them again this week on Tuesday night.
In a game with a very low scoring total on Sunday, the Sixers prevailed against these teams. They will now want to win two more games in order to move up the standings once more.
Buddy Hield discussed the team’s mentality prior to this miniseries. They know how important their next games are since there are so many teams that are tied for first place in the standings.
“We are aware that they will be raucous and prepared for competition when we visit The Garden,” Hield remarked. “We are aware of the stakes. By the looks of the standings, we’re all well-prepared. We have the chance to get closer.
Hield, who joined the Sixers at the trade deadline, got off to an explosive start. But Nick Nurse moved him from the starting lineup to the second unit due to a recent cold spell. Hield scored 16 points and pulled down seven rebounds in the victory on Sunday, demonstrating the benefits of this decision.
Over the course of 14 games with the Sixers, the seasoned shooter is averaging 14.9 PPG and 4.8 APG on 42% shooting from outside the arc.
