Shocking news: Led Zeppelin just shocks the world with new album and tour dates- but…

New film Becoming Led Zeppelin is the first-ever authorized Led Zeppelin documentary, and it features rare footage and new interviews with founding members Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, as well as a never-before-heard interview with the late John Bonham. The film includes full performances of songs with remastered sound in spatial audio.

The documentary was made by Bernard MacMahon, who made the American Epic series, and will have an exclusive run in IMAX theaters starting February 7, with special early screenings in select markets on February 5 (including NYC

Here’s the official synopsis: “Becoming Led Zeppelin explores the origins of this iconic group and their meteoric rise in just one year against all the odds. Powered by awe-inspiring, psychedelic, never-before-seen footage, performances, and music, Bernard MacMahon’s experiential cinematic odyssey explores Led Zeppelin’s creative, musical, and personal origin story. The film is told in Led Zeppelin’s own words and is the first officially sanctioned film on the group.”

MacMahon says, “The cinematic power of IMAX paired with the film’s authentic sound creates an immersive and transportive viewing experience letting audiences feel like they are there, in the venues with the band.”

Jimmy Page – Zeppelin’s leader, guitarist, principal songwriter, producer and all-round genius – gave an interview to Classic Rock in 2014 in which he discussed the making of the biggest selling album of the band’s career.

He spoke in detail about two of the album’s cornerstone tracks – Stairway To Heaven and When The Levee Breaks. And he stressed the importance of how the eight tracks on the album were carefully sequenced for maximum dramatic effect.

He began by discussing what is arguably the most revered of all rock songs, Stairway To Heaven, and how he wrote it with the aim of creating a “profound” piece of music.

Recalling how he first presented the song to the rest of the band, he said: “I had the sections for it. It was a question of piecing them together. And that all worked. But by nature of the fact that it had acceleration through it, it needed some work on it. Definitely it was the sort of thing where you wanted to be all around each other.”

He remembered watching singer Robert Plant writing lyrics for the song while the band were working through the arrangement. “There was a lot to remember in Stairway, when you were playing it and routining the track. I can say – he’ll probably deny it, ha ha – but during the running through of Stairway, I remember Robert was sitting down in the room and he was writing and writing. And there was a point where he came to sing it, and he had a major percentage of the lyrics already done.

Led Zeppelin the Best Band of all time Led#1 forever, Led Zeppelin, formed in 1968, consisted of Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham. After reshaping the sound of rock with their debut Led Zeppelin (1969), they followed with Led Zeppelin II (1969), III (1970), and IV (1971), which featured the immortal “Stairway to Heaven.” The band seamlessly blended blues, hard rock, and folk influences with unmatched intensity. Physical Graffiti (1975) and Presence (1976) showed their experimental range, while In Through the Out Door (1979) reflected musical evolution. Known for mystique and explosive live shows, Zeppelin avoided releasing singles, encouraging full-album experiences. The band dissolved after Bonham’s death in 1980, but their 2007 reunion at the O2 Arena proved their enduring magic. Selling over 300 million records, Led Zeppelin are Rock Hall inductees and cultural cornerstones, often cited as the greatest rock band in history.
