Celtic may have been supported to re-sign Odsonne Edouard this summer, despite Michael Olise leading a Crystal Palace exodus.
Former Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson stated on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast that he does not believe the forward is in Oliver Glasner’s plans.
Glasner took over the Eagles in February of this year, and while he brought the club success, Edouard’s playing time was substantially curtailed.
However, the Eagles could lose several key attacking players this summer, with Michael Olise receiving a medical at Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich after finalizing terms on a £50 million transfer.
It could cause Glasner to reconsider his options, but he could also reinvest the proceeds from Olise’s sale on a younger player.
That could then open the door for Edouard to make a move back to Celtic, where he played 179 games and scored 87 goals.
Celtic are expected to re-sign Odsonne Edouard with a new update
With Edouard obviously out of Glasner’s plans, a return to the Hoops may be ideal for his career, but Robinson says it’s “down to finances.”
“With Crystal Palace, they’re potentially losing the likes of Eze, Olise, Guehi this summer; they’re going to get tested with bids for those types of players,” Robinson told Football Insider.
“I think Edouard’s future will be decided by the movement of others, but I think with Oliver Glasner it doesn’t look like he’s going to get a look in.
“I think with the opportunity for him to move, I don’t think it will cost him that much in all honesty.
“I think that is a player that Celtic could realistically look at.”
