Tennessee signed every scholarship commit during the early window, but they weren’t done playing around for the 2024 class. The Vols were attempting to flip a couple targets, but they had no big news or flips to report. One of the names they were after was Dominick McKinley, a five-star defensive line commit from Texas A&M. However, on New Year’s Eve, the gifted defender switched to the home-state LSU Tigers.
Earlier in the month, defensive coordinator Tim Banks and defensive line coach Rodney Garner paid the five-star defensive lineman an in-home visit. In an interview with 247Sports, his mother was quite clear that he would not be signing his early signing day paperwork. Though he was supposed to visit Tennessee, those plans could now be in risk, of course. It will be intriguing to watch if the Vols are able to bring him on campus because, as we all know, once prospects set foot in Knoxville, Tennessee, they can achieve anything. Several recruits from Tennessee are with McKinley at the Under Armour All-American game right now, and they have been hitting him hard all week.
