Newcastle United are back in talks with AC Milan following the Sandro Tonali transfer last summer, and they are prepared to make a significant bid for Malick Thiaw, according to reports.
This morning’s edition of Corriere dello Sport (via PianetaMilan) confirms previous claims about Newcastle’s interest in signing Thiaw to boost their centre-back department. He can also play as a right-back or defensive midfielder.
The German defender joined Milan in the summer of 2022 for €7 million, including bonuses from Schalke 04, and is coming off a difficult season, which included a lengthy absence due to injury.
According to the newspaper, the Magpies are willing to pay €40 million for him, demonstrating that they definitely trust in his future potential despite a year of inactivity. However, Milan believes in him because they do not believe that quantity is sufficient.
So far, there have just been inquiries from Newcastle, and there is currently no official bid to consider, but the operation might begin in the coming days. The relationship between the clubs is excellent, and a year after the sale of Tonali, they may do additional business.
