Brentford has appointed Keith Andrews as set-piece coach.
Andrews leaves Sheffield United, where he has been on the first-team coaching staff since December 2023.
The 43-year-old was Stephen Kenny’s assistant manager throughout the Dubliner’s three-year tenure as Republic of Ireland manager (2020-2023), as well as MK Dons’ assistant manager during the 2015/16 Championship season.
Andrews, a midfielder, played for Wolverhampton Wanderers, Hull City, MK Dons, and Blackburn Rovers over a 16-year career that began in 1999.
Andrews earned 35 caps for the Republic of Ireland and competed in UEFA Euro 2012.
Brentford director of football Phil Giles stated of Andrews’ appointment as set-piece coach: “Everyone at Brentford is extremely happy to see Keith join us at pre-season training for his first day today.
“He is someone we have known for a while and always had in mind for a role at some point in the future.
“Whilst he has had more wide-ranging coaching roles in the past, focusing on set-pieces as a specialism is something which we think he has the qualities to do extremely well, and I’m sure that our staff can help him develop as a coach, too.
“Set-pieces are an important part of what we do well and I’m sure we’ll maintain those standards with Keith in charge.”
