Charlie Goode, a Brentford defender, might be a summer transfer target for Sheffield Wednesday.
The 28-year-old will depart the Bees when his current contract ends at the end of June, and The Star understands that his name has been discussed at Hillsborough as a potential arrival.
Goode joined Brentford from Northampton Town in 2020 for a reported seven-figure amount, but has struggled to establish a regular role at the club, spending time on loan with Sheffield United, Blackpool, and, most recently, Wigan Athletic.
He missed the final three games of the Latics’ season for ‘personal reasons’, but he had only missed three matches during his loan stay, which began in January. He appeared 13 times in total, helping them finish in the middle of League One.
The defender will have a plethora of alternatives this summer as he decides where the next chapter of his career will take him, and a move to Danny Röhl’s Owls is one that could be considered.
Goode has played in all four of England’s major divisions, having risen through the ranks throughout his career, and at roughly 6’5″, the centre back would undoubtedly be regarded a powerful presence at whatever team he joins this summer.
Wednesday offered new contracts to seven of its top players this summer, but there has been no confirmation of any agreements being reached.
