Celtic captain Callum McGregor confesses he’s enjoying his immaculate cup final record after defeating Rangers to end the season.
Adam Idah’s goal at Hampden was enough to lift the Scottish Cup and complete a double for the Premiership champions, ensuring McGregor has yet to lose a cup final in his nine years as a senior player at Celtic. The 30-year-old has stated that talk about his record circulated before he faced Philippe Clement’s team, but that just added to his motivation.
Speaking to the Celtic View about his cup final record following the win against Rangers, McGregor said: “I don’t want anyone to jinx me, but when people talk about it, you think: Let’s make them wait a little longer. I’m overjoyed; you can only prepare so much; you get yourself emotionally and physically ready, you prepare the team, and then a little bit of luck comes into play.
“I’m delighted to keep it going, and the more it grows arms and legs, the better you feel about it. When you come back, you arrive into these big games full of confidence because you’ve got so much to look back on.”
