Chris Sutton mocked Kris Boyd and Rangers with a cardboard cutout before Celtic’s win over St Mirren on Saturday (18 May).
Sutton was live in the Sky Sports studio at Parkhead for The Hoops’ first match since defeating Rangers 5-0 at Kilmarnock to win the Scottish Premiership (15 May).
In a video released on X by Sky Sports Scotland (18 May), Sutton is handed a cardboard cutout of Boyd and begins to mock the former Rangers player. The 51-year-old swings the cutout about before stating, “I know he wanted to come and celebrate Celtic’s title.”
Rangers, Philippe Clement, and Kris Boyd must remember Chris Sutton antics
This is not the first time Sutton has taken aim at the Gers this week, and it is unlikely to be the last.
Rangers fans will have expected nothing less from the ex-Celtic player after their Glasgow rivals defeated them for the title.
Boyd would have likely gloated just as much, and he will be hoping for the opportunity to do so next season.
Sutton is having a lot of fun right now, but it could come back to bite him.
Clement must ensure that his players are watching and listening to everything Sutton has to say, and they must use it as motivation for next season.
This year’s Scottish Premiership title race was one of the most intriguing in recent memory, and there’s no reason why the Gers can’t improve even further next season.
And if they do, Sutton will receive a lot of support from Boyd and Rangers fans, which he deserves.
