Beale is out of job after being fired by both Rangers and Sunderland last season.
Former Rangers manager Michael Beale is due to make a surprise comeback to management, but it may not be where you would expect.
The Englishman has been out of work since Sunderland fired him in February following only 12 games in charge at the Stadium of Light. That stint came just a few months after he was sacked of his duties at Ibrox after failing to qualify for the Champions League group stages and finishing eight points behind eventual Premiership winners Celtic in the title race.
However, according to The Scottish Sun, the 43-year-old is being lined up to take over as head coach of Israeli Premier League club Maccabi Tel Aviv from former Hoops hero Robbie Keane. According to the article, Beale’s representatives at CAA Base have arranged an interview for the position, despite concerns about the country’s security as a result of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine.
Keane, a Republic of Ireland great, stood down as manager earlier this month after leading Tel Aviv to a league and cup double last season, as well as the Conference League knockout rounds. Some criticised the 43-year-old for moving to the Middle East, but he called the experience as “unforgettable.”
After leaving the club, the ex striker, who netted 16 goals in 19 matches in a loan spell at Parkhead in 2010, said: “I want to thank the owners, all the players, the coaches, and the fans for making this season unforgettable.
“I am very proud of everything we achieved together as a team and especially proud of the hard work and the dedication that led to winning the championship and the Toto Cup.
“I wish everyone involved in the club the best of luck in the Champions League and the upcoming season.”
