Ari Muric is the latest goalkeeping prospect apparently being investigated by Celtic as they seek to replace Joe Hart.
The 25-year-old is presently at Burnley, where he played second fiddle to £19 million man James Trafford for most of the season until breaking into the starting lineup for the final stretch, although he was unable to keep Vincent Kompany’s side from being relegated. The Kosovan is the latest name to be linked with the Hoops, following Andriy Lunin, Alex McCarthy, and Uğurcan Çakır.
According to the Scottish Sun, Muric, who joined Burnley from Manchester City in 2022, is now under consideration. He joined City’s academy from Grasshopper in 2015 and has had loan spells at NAC Breda, Nottingham Forest, Girona, Willem II, and Adana Demirspor.
Muric made 41 appearances for Turf Moor after making a permanent move there in 2022, helping them win the Championship and gain promotion to the Premier League. However, he lost his place to Trafford at the start of the season.
Celtic need a new number one after Hart decided to retire. The 37-year-old revealed earlier this year that he will be retiring following this weekend’s Scottish Cup final against Rangers.
They may even pounce for more than one shotstopper, as Ben Siegrist could go in pursuit of game time after being close to a transfer in January.
