Andrew Carr once again shines bright when the Cats need him most..

The 6-foot-11 forward has balled out in UK’s two biggest matchups so far this season.

One of the best things about this 2024-25 Kentucky Wildcats basketball team is that they’re not reliant on one or two guys to make things happen each night.

The roster is littered with multiple players who can make shots and contribute in a variety of ways.

From game to game, you really have no idea who might lead Mark Pope’s team in scoring.

However, in UK’s biggest moments of this young season, there has been a noticeable stand-out.

Wake Forest transfer Andrew Carr has played some of his best basketball when the Cats needed him the most.

In Kentucky’s 77-72 comeback win against Duke in the Champions Classic, Carr would pour in 17 points, snatch six boards, and dished out three assists.

The 6-11 forward from West Chester (PA) proved it was no fluke when he dominated the Zags on Saturday night in Seattle.

Carr finished with a hard-earned 19 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in the overtime win.

It seemed that every time Gonzaga was in a position to potentially put the game out of reach, Carr’s experienced play acted as a calming force to keep UK within striking distance.

I enjoy watching the way he methodically attacks his defender and has such a soft touch around the rim. The versatile big man never seems to get himself in a rush or force the ball where it doesn’t need to go.

He’s also an underrated passer on a team loaded with talented shooters. At nearly 7-feet tall, he’s already tallied 23 assists this season.

Andrew Carr’s ability to knock down shots from deep forces the defense to guard the entire floor and makes Kentucky’s offense that much harder to defend.

Out of all of the great things that he does on the floor, Andrew Carr’s attitude off the floor may be his best attribute.

You can just tell that he wants to be in Lexington and will do anything that his team needs from him to win.
