Kieran Trippier’s wife has posted a mysterious message on Instagram, which has got the gossip mill churning, despite England manager Gareth Southgate’s efforts to keep such matters under wraps.
Kieran Trippier’s wife has shared a strange Instagram tale that has sparked discussion.
This is despite Gareth Southgate and the FA’s desire to keep any personal difficulties under wraps until after the Euros. Trippier has started at left-back in both of England’s opening two Euro 2024 games, but he may be dealing with off-field concerns.
His wife, Charlotte, uploaded a cryptic post to Instagram, reading: “Sooner or later you get over the s*** you swore you’d never get over and it’s the best feeling in the world.” She then followed that up with the words: “The sun is shining. Happy Monday angels.”
It is unclear who the post is targeted at, however Trippier’s profile no longer appears in the list of accounts she follows (at the time of reporting), prompting social media users to believe she had unfollowed him – despite the fact that the Newcastle star still follows her.
Top brass in the England camp have been desperate to prevent any difficulties from reaching the media and causing unwanted diversions.
A source told the Daily Mail: “Gareth Southgate and the FA will be furious that their approach of trying to keep personal news about the players from appearing in the media during the Euros has seemingly failed.”
A second source added: “All the close relatives of the England players were strictly told that news about their personal lives had to be kept out of the media because it could affect team morale and performance. Some people have gone out of their way to get media attention during the Euros. Southgate will be furious because they’ve not been able to keep down some of this noise, which is bound to affect some of the players.”
The luxury resort where England are based is hidden from public view, allowing the team members to enjoy complete solitude. Gareth Southgate has attempted to keep the players’ partners at arm’s length, but they were permitted to attend the camp for 24 hours last Friday.
Trippier had previously played on the left side of a back four that conceded for the first time against Denmark. The Newcastle player has taken over for Manchester United’s Luke Shaw, who is still recovering from an injury he sustained before the competition began. Trippier might play the role for the full Euros.
