Super Eagles player Kelechi Iheanacho recently liked an Aston Villa post on X (previously Twitter), fuelling speculation regarding his move away from Leicester City, according to Soccernet.ng.
The Nigerian attacker’s contract with the Foxes expires in June, and sources indicate that the newly promoted club does not intend to prolong his stay at the King Power Stadium.
Top teams, notably Aston Villa, which recently clinched a UEFA Champions League spot for the coming season, as well as Everton, are showing a serious interest in him.
Iheanacho recently liked a post honouring Ollie Watkins as Villa’s player of the season, fueling transfer speculation.
According to reports, Iheanacho has turned down a new contract with Leicester City, despite being given a greater weekly salary of £65,000.
Super Eagles striker Iheanacho has hinted that Leicester City fans will miss him when he leaves in the summer transfer window.
Aston Villa has shown long-term interest in Iheanacho, having attempted to sign him four years ago.
After Leicester’s final game of the season against Blackburn Rovers, Iheanacho was seen wearing a t-shirt with the inscription, “We’ve got HISTORY. When I’m gone, you gonna miss me.”
