Alan Shearer has asked England boss Gareth Southgate to use Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon to assist Harry Kane up front with his pace.
Kane scored this evening, but Denmark held England to a dismal 1-1 draw, with many believing they could have won.
Southgate took Kane off in the second half, but Shearer felt that the England captain needs some help up front from players with pace to get past defenders.
The outcome came after England defeated Serbia in their first group game, although they were also chastised for their poor performance in that match.
The former England international believes Newcastle’s Gordon should be put into the starting eleven because his pace might give the outlet Kane requires to get the attacking line operating better in the upcoming game.
He said on BBC One: “As I got older, I needed pace in and around me.
“I could still score goals, head the ball, get into positions in the box, but one thing I could not do is run in behind.
“Harry Kane is the same now, he needs players that have the legs to run beyond and make the space.
“That’s why I would have Anthony Gordon in the team, Phil Foden is occupying the same spaces as Kane at the moment and it’s not working.”
Gordon has not appeared in the first two games after scoring eleven goals and providing ten assists in the Premier League last season.
