Chelsea FC are attempting to hijack Newcastle United’s latest bid to sign free agent Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham FC.
According to sources, Chelsea is mulling a move for Adarabioyo in an effort to fill the vacuum left by the departure of Thiago Silva, a seasoned centre-back from Brazil.
Adarabioyo may be interested in the Chelsea move since it would give him a better opportunity to earn international recognition as he waits to join with the Blues.
This comes after Newcastle coach Eddie Howe sanctioned the club’s move to sign Adarabioyo from Fulham.
This was confirmed in a post on X (previously Twitter) by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who stated that Howe had sanctioned the signing of Adarabioyo and Bournemouth star Lloyd Kelly for next season.
Romano stated in a recent social media post that Kelly is anticipated to join Newcastle as a free agent, while negotiations with Adarabioyo are progressing nicely.
According to ESPN, Manchester United is also a possible destination for the 26-year-old player, who has 14 England youth international caps between the under-16 and under-19 levels.
Adarabioyo, who began his professional career at Manchester City and made his senior debut in 2016 after rising through the club’s youth systems, is also desired by Manchester United.
The player, who is now earning £47,000 a week, has not signed a new contract with Fulham. The player and the club are claimed to have been in contract negotiations, but with less than a month remaining in the 2023-24 season, Adarabioyo decided to leave.
