Arsenal has been linked with a big-money deal for Newcastle United attacker Alexander Isak.
According to sources, Arsenal plans to replace Alexander Isak with Ajax attacker Brian Brobbey as their top transfer target.
Newcastle United have taken a hardline approach towards the Swede, who joined from Real Sociedad for a club record £63 million less than two years ago. Toon officials are thought to be determined to keep their 25-goal scorer at St James’ Park.
Isak has four years left on his current deal and expressed his wish to remain at Newcastle earlier this year. He replied, “Of course, I hope to be here in the future. I came here for a project.
“I absolutely love playing here, I really feel at home. I want to finish this season in a good way for me and the team.”
Arsenal are widely known to be looking for a striker to complete the Premier League title puzzle. According to Football Insider, Isak’s high price has turned off Arsenal’s interest, and they will look elsewhere.
Brobbey, who has previously been connected with Newcastle, is reportedly a target for several Premier League clubs. Arsenal and Manchester United were rumoured to be monitoring his position.
The Gunners are certain they can get the 22-year-old for a fraction of Isak’s asking price. Despite Ajax’s disappointing season, Brobbey scored 18 league games, sparking interest around Europe.
He mentioned Arsenal when asked about his Eredivisie future earlier this year. Brobbey added, “I think Arsenal is a very nice club.” If you look at that stadium, it’s a really nice club, but so are Manchester United, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.
“I have a contract until 2027. At the moment I am just with Ajax. But I’m not finished at Ajax yet, I want to show something here first.”
