Ok, I Know a Lot of People Don’t Like Jake E – But Hear Me Out”

Ok, I know a lot of people on here don’t like Jake E. Trust me, I get it. I wasn’t really a fan either at first. Whether it was the style, the vocals, or just the fact that people love to compare him to other vocalists in the genre, he didn’t click with me initially. But that all changed when I saw them open for Metallica in 2022.

Let me set the scene: Metallica was obviously the main event, but I always like checking out the openers because you never know when someone’s going to surprise you. And honestly, that’s exactly what happened. When Jake E and his band took the stage, I wasn’t expecting much. But by the end of their set, I was actually impressed. The energy was there, the vocals were on point, and the songs were way better live than I had expected. That show made me look at Jake E in a completely different way.

After that night, I started diving into more of their music, both older stuff and whatever they had coming out. And here’s the thing: they’ve got some seriously solid tracks. There’s emotion, there’s heaviness, and there’s a certain catchiness to the choruses that’s hard to ignore. Maybe it’s not for everyone, but it clicked for me in a way it hadn’t before seeing them live.

Also, in case you didn’t know – they’ve got new music out. Just saying. And it’s worth checking out. Whether you’ve been a fan from the beginning or, like me, came around after seeing them live, the new material shows growth. The production is tight, the songwriting feels more refined, and Jake E’s vocals are stronger than ever. He’s clearly not trying to be someone he’s not, and there’s something to be said for owning your style and sticking with it, even if it’s not universally loved.

I think sometimes people just decide they don’t like someone based on reputation or a single performance or track. But artists evolve. People grow. And sometimes all it takes is seeing someone perform live to realize you might’ve judged too quickly. That was definitely the case for me with Jake E. I went from not really caring about his music to actually respecting what he brings to the table.

So yeah, I get that Jake E isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But if you haven’t seen them live or given their recent stuff a fair listen, maybe give it a shot. You might be surprised. I was.

Sabbath formed the year I was born, first song I learned on guitar was Sweet L3af, saw Ozzy in ‘82 just after the plane crash, countless Ozfest’s, 1998 reunion show, etc etc….. I’ve seen a lot of fans talking about what band was uninvited, or who didn’t live up to the hype, or which band shouldn’t have been there… I watched the entire show and, for me, the lifetime soundtrack was as touching and meaningful as a McCartney concert…

This just popped up as a memory from my regular page. I believe part of his payment was for the cords to hook up all his pedals. Jake said he had those all hooked up.

Ever since I first heard him on the Bark At The Moon album, I’ve been a huge fan Of Jake E. Lee. I’ve seen him play with Ozzy twice, Badlands once and his solo band 3 or 4 times and have met him twice. He is one of the nicest, humblest people you can ever be lucky to meet.

Jake, it’s so nice to see you back on a big stage. I remember when I was 14 and I tried to play your solos on the guitar and I never succeeded. Don’t isolate yourself anymore, do it for your many fans around the world.
