Aston Villa Women defender Rachel Corsie to retire following upcoming Scotland fixtures
On the pitch, in her dedication preparing as a player and as a pundit, there has not been someone who means too much more to the sport than Aston Villa Women defender Rachel Corsie. Through her time in the WSL, other leagues, and at the international level, Corsie has put together an impressive career.
After fighting back to return to her team, the longtime AVWFC captain is now deciding to hang it up. Following the upcoming Nations League matches, when Scotland faces Austria and the Netherlands will be her last involvement
Corsie is someone who gave it her all for the club while at Villa. She amassed 58 caps with AVWFC and played through a considerable amount of pain and setbacks that resulted in her being able to take the field twice more as the skipper toward the end of the 2024-2025 campaign.
Now, looking to move on to the next chapter of her life, Corsie had stops that included the Kansas City Current, Utah Royals, Seattle Reign, Notts County, and Glasgow City.
Last involvements for Aston Villa Women CB
Then at the international level, Corsie has played for Scotland 154 times. A captain for her country team as well, she has been a part of the senior Scots side since 2009. The two fixtures in the Nations League Matchday 5 and Matchday 6 are, for her, the ideal setting to finish her incredible run as a player.
