BREAKING NEWS: Eleven Warriors Feature in Loan and Dual Registration Action Across Betfred Championship and Reserves Leagues Over the Weekend

It was a busy weekend of rugby league action for the Wigan Warriors, with a total of eleven players featuring across various fixtures in the Betfred Championship and Reserves Leagues through loan and dual registration agreements.

As part of the club’s ongoing development strategy, these loan and dual reg arrangements are designed to give players vital game time and experience in competitive environments. With Wigan continuing to cultivate one of the strongest youth systems in Super League, these opportunities allow younger talents and fringe first-teamers to stay sharp and continue their growth.

Championship Involvement

Several Warriors turned out for Barrow Raiders and London Broncos in the Championship, making solid contributions.

Harvie Hill, Zach Eckersley, and Junior Nsemba were in action for Barrow Raiders as they faced Featherstone Rovers. Despite a challenging result for Barrow, the trio showed strong individual performances. Hill, in particular, impressed with his aggressive carries and defensive work rate in the middle. Eckersley added spark on the edges with several line breaks, while Nsemba’s athleticism made him a handful for the opposition.

Meanwhile, Jacob Douglas and Ethan Havard suited up for London Broncos. Douglas, known for his speed and agility, caused problems for defenders on the wing, while Havard added physicality up front. Both players earned praise from the Broncos’ coaching staff for their commitment and professionalism.

League 1 and Reserves Contributions

In League 1 action, Tom Forber and Ryan Brown featured for Oldham RLFC, where they contributed to a dominant win over North Wales Crusaders. Forber, playing at hooker, controlled the ruck and distributed the ball well, while Brown added impact off the bench with strong carries.

The Reserves League also saw several Warriors make valuable appearances, helping the Wigan Reserves continue their strong campaign. Jack Farrimond, Jacob Douglas (on dual duty), Taylor Kerr, and Loghan Lewis were among those who turned out for the Reserves, who secured a comprehensive win against the Hull KR Reserves.

Farrimond continues to impress with his organisational skills and kicking game from halfback, while Kerr and Lewis provided solidity in the forward pack. Their consistent form has sparked discussion among fans about potential first-team opportunities in the near future.

Player Development Focus

Wigan Warriors’ Head of Youth and Pathways, John Duffy, commented on the weekend’s activity:

“It’s fantastic to see so many of our young players getting valuable minutes. These experiences in the Championship, League 1, and the Reserves League are crucial for their development. Whether it’s learning to deal with physicality, game tempo, or simply building confidence, these matches give our lads something they can’t always get from training alone.”

He added:

“We’re seeing real progress in several players, and it’s only a matter of time before more of them push into regular Super League contention.”

What’s Next?

With a packed summer of fixtures ahead, Warriors fans can expect to see more of their young talents out on loan or dual registration as the club balances first-team commitments with long-term development.

As always, the club will continue to monitor each player’s progress closely and provide the necessary support to ensure their growth on and off the field.

Wigan’s strategic use of the loan and dual reg system not only helps players grow but also builds stronger relationships across the rugby league community — a testament to their commitment to the sport’s development at all levels.

Stay tuned for more updates on Warrior players out on loan and in Reserves action throughout the season.

I’ve seen a lot of fans talking about what band was uninvited, or who didn’t live up to the hype, or which band shouldn’t have been there… I watched the entire show and, for me, the lifetime soundtrack was as touching and meaningful as a McCartney concert…

Ever since I first heard him on the Bark At The Moon album, I’ve been a huge fan Of Jake E. Lee. I’ve seen him play with Ozzy twice, Badlands once and his solo band 3 or 4 times and have met him twice. He is one of the nicest, humblest people you can ever be lucky to meet.

Jake, it’s so nice to see you back on a big stage. I remember when I was 14 and I tried to play your solos on the guitar and I never succeeded. Don’t isolate yourself anymore, do it for your many fans around the world.
