Breaking News: Hazem El Masri Sends Powerful Message to Canterbury Bulldogs

Canterbury Bulldogs legend Hazem El Masri has broken his silence and sent a heartfelt and powerful message to the club amid one of its most turbulent periods in recent history.

In a surprise post on social media late Friday night, El Masri addressed current Bulldogs players, staff, and fans, following the recent suspension of multiple team members and growing concerns about the culture within the club.

“This club is more than just a jersey — it’s family, pride, and tradition,” El Masri wrote. “To the current group of players — wear the badge with honor. We’ve been through highs and lows, but the strength of this club has always been its people and its values.”

El Masri, widely considered one of the greatest Bulldogs to ever take the field, played 317 NRL games for the club between 1996 and 2009 and still holds the record as the highest point scorer in NRL history. Known as much for his integrity and sportsmanship as his on-field brilliance, El Masri remains a beloved figure not just in Canterbury, but across the league.

With the Bulldogs under scrutiny following multiple suspensions and off-field controversies, his message couldn’t have come at a more important time.

“Mistakes happen. We’re all human. But this badge represents decades of hard work, blood, sweat, and community spirit. It’s time to come together, to reflect, and to rebuild,” he added.

Fans quickly flooded the post with messages of support, many calling for El Masri to take a more active role within the club, even suggesting a mentoring or ambassadorial position to help guide younger players.

Club officials have yet to respond publicly to El Masri’s message, but sources say his words have already had a powerful impact behind the scenes.

In a time when the Bulldogs are desperately searching for stability and leadership, El Masri’s voice serves as a reminder of what the club truly stands for — resilience, unity, and pride.

Whether or not he returns in an official capacity, one thing is clear: Hazem El Masri still bleeds blue and white. And when the Bulldogs needed a voice of reason and inspiration, he stepped up once again.

Sabbath formed the year I was born, first song I learned on guitar was Sweet L3af, saw Ozzy in ‘82 just after the plane crash, countless Ozfest’s, 1998 reunion show, etc etc….. I’ve seen a lot of fans talking about what band was uninvited, or who didn’t live up to the hype, or which band shouldn’t have been there… I watched the entire show and, for me, the lifetime soundtrack was as touching and meaningful as a McCartney concert…

This just popped up as a memory from my regular page. I believe part of his payment was for the cords to hook up all his pedals. Jake said he had those all hooked up.

Ever since I first heard him on the Bark At The Moon album, I’ve been a huge fan Of Jake E. Lee. I’ve seen him play with Ozzy twice, Badlands once and his solo band 3 or 4 times and have met him twice. He is one of the nicest, humblest people you can ever be lucky to meet.

Jake, it’s so nice to see you back on a big stage. I remember when I was 14 and I tried to play your solos on the guitar and I never succeeded. Don’t isolate yourself anymore, do it for your many fans around the world.
