BREAKING NEWS: Netflix to Premiere Groundbreaking Documentary on the Life and Legacy of the Las Vegas Raiders
In an exciting announcement that has already sent waves through the sports and entertainment world, Netflix revealed today that it will premiere an all-new, in-depth documentary chronicling the life, legacy, and impact of the legendary Las Vegas Raiders. The highly anticipated series, set to debut later this year, promises to deliver an unprecedented look into one of the most storied—and controversial—franchises in NFL history.
Titled “Silver & Black: The Story of the Raiders”, the multi-part documentary will span the franchise’s early days in Oakland, the dramatic move to Los Angeles, the triumphant return to Oakland, and the eventual high-profile relocation to Las Vegas. It will feature never-before-seen footage, exclusive interviews with former and current players, coaches, executives, and devoted members of Raider Nation.
“This isn’t just a football story—it’s a cultural movement,” said the documentary’s director, Emmy-winning filmmaker Ava DuVernay. “The Raiders have always represented more than the game. They stand for rebellion, identity, community, and resilience. Their impact goes beyond wins and losses; it’s about what they’ve meant to generations of fans across cities and decades.”
The Raiders’ history is rich with drama, triumph, and controversy. From Al Davis’ “Just win, baby” philosophy to iconic figures like John Madden, Marcus Allen, Bo Jackson, and more recently, Derek Carr and Davante Adams, the documentary will explore how the franchise evolved from a scrappy AFL team into a global brand with one of the most passionate fanbases in all of sports.
According to Netflix, the series will also dive into the franchise’s commitment to social justice, its trailblazing hiring practices—including making Art Shell the first African American head coach in modern NFL history—and its unapologetic embrace of individuality and toughness.
“Few teams have a story as unique and compelling as the Raiders,” said Netflix’s VP of Sports Content, Brianna Parks. “This series will take viewers beyond the field and into the locker rooms, boardrooms, and stands to show what has made the Raiders such a defining force in American sports.”
The documentary comes at a perfect time, as the Raiders continue to rebrand and build a new identity in Las Vegas under the lights of Allegiant Stadium. It will also provide context on the team’s recent changes, including coaching shifts, high-profile player acquisitions, and their renewed focus on returning to championship contention.
Fans can expect appearances from legendary players such as Tim Brown, Howie Long, Charles Woodson, and more, alongside current stars and lifelong supporters. Netflix has also confirmed that the series will include archival footage of late owner Al Davis and his ongoing influence on the team’s culture, even after his passing.
“Silver & Black: The Story of the Raiders” is scheduled to premiere worldwide on Netflix in fall 2025.
Get ready for a deep dive into the heart of one of football’s most iconic teams—where grit, loyalty, controversy, and pride have defined generations.
