Goodbye fans, I am leaving but promise to return back: Kim Caldwell an American college basketball Announce

Everything Lady Vols coach Kim Caldwell said at first SEC Media Day - VolReport: Tennessee Volunteers Football & Basketball RecruitingGoodbye Fans, I Am Leaving But Promise to Return: Kim Caldwell, An American College Basketball Announcer

As the final buzzer sounds and the season comes to a close, I find myself standing at an emotional crossroads. For those who don’t know me, I am Kim Caldwell, an American college basketball announcer, and it is with a heavy heart that I announce I will be stepping away from the mic for a little while. But fear not — this isn’t a farewell forever. It’s just a “see you later.”

Tennessee hires Marshall's Kim Caldwell as women's basketball coach - Yahoo SportsFor many years, I’ve had the immense privilege of calling some of the most thrilling games in college basketball. From the buzzer-beaters to the last-minute heroics, to the raw emotion of a championship game, I’ve been fortunate enough to be part of it all. I’ve witnessed some unforgettable moments, and I’ve had the honor of sharing those experiences with fans, players, coaches, and everyone who loves the game. It’s been a ride that I’ll always cherish.

But as much as I love being on the air, there comes a time when we all need to step back and reassess. Life has a way of throwing curveballs, and over the past few months, I’ve had to make some personal decisions. I need to take some time for myself, to reconnect with my roots, my family, and recharge before I return to what I love most — bringing the excitement of college basketball to fans everywhere.

Leaving the world of sports broadcasting, even temporarily, is not an easy decision. College basketball has been my life, and the connection I’ve built with you, the fans, is something that I treasure deeply. Whether I was announcing a tight game, discussing the strategies of the game, or simply sharing a laugh with a colleague or fan, the energy and passion of the sport have been a constant in my life. It’s something I’ll miss while I’m away, but I know that stepping back is important for my growth and well-being.

Lady Vols win first game of the Kim Caldwell era | WATE 6 On Your SideTo every coach who shared their insights with me, every player who put their heart and soul on the court, and every fan who filled the stands or tuned in from home — thank you. Your support has made my time as an announcer so meaningful. It’s because of you that I’ve been able to do what I love and find purpose in sharing the spirit of college basketball with others.

But don’t think this is the end! It’s just a brief interlude. The beauty of sports broadcasting is that it’s never truly over — there’s always another season, another story, another game. I promise you this: I will return. I’ll be back to once again call the high-flying dunks, the game-changing three-pointers, and the moments of brilliance that make college basketball the thrilling spectacle it is.

For now, though, I’m going to take this time to reflect, rest, and regroup. I’ll continue to stay involved in the world of basketball in other ways, but I’m stepping back from the booth for a little while. I trust that, when I return, you’ll be there with open arms and eager ears, ready to experience the magic of the game once again.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for your unwavering support. Until we meet again — this is Kim Caldwell, signing off for now. See you soon, basketball fans!

Sabbath formed the year I was born, first song I learned on guitar was Sweet L3af, saw Ozzy in ‘82 just after the plane crash, countless Ozfest’s, 1998 reunion show, etc etc….. I’ve seen a lot of fans talking about what band was uninvited, or who didn’t live up to the hype, or which band shouldn’t have been there… I watched the entire show and, for me, the lifetime soundtrack was as touching and meaningful as a McCartney concert…

This just popped up as a memory from my regular page. I believe part of his payment was for the cords to hook up all his pedals. Jake said he had those all hooked up.

Ever since I first heard him on the Bark At The Moon album, I’ve been a huge fan Of Jake E. Lee. I’ve seen him play with Ozzy twice, Badlands once and his solo band 3 or 4 times and have met him twice. He is one of the nicest, humblest people you can ever be lucky to meet.

Jake, it’s so nice to see you back on a big stage. I remember when I was 14 and I tried to play your solos on the guitar and I never succeeded. Don’t isolate yourself anymore, do it for your many fans around the world.
