I AM LEAVING: Beloved St. John’s Red Storm Star Announces Departure, Sends Emotional Message to Fans

In a heartfelt and emotional announcement, one of St. John’s Red Storm’s most beloved stars has confirmed that he is leaving the program, marking the end of a memorable chapter in his collegiate career.

The player, whose performances electrified Carnesecca Arena and inspired countless fans, took to social media late Friday night to share the news, accompanied by a heartfelt message that quickly went viral.

“I am leaving,” he wrote. “This decision didn’t come easy. St. John’s has been my home, my family, and my dream. But after deep reflection with my family, my coaches, and myself, I’ve decided it’s time to move forward.”

Although the exact reason for his departure hasn’t been officially disclosed, sources close to the program suggest that the decision is tied to preparing for the NBA Draft, though a potential transfer to another school is also reportedly on the table.

During his time at St. John’s, the star quickly became a fan favorite — not just for his athleticism and highlight-reel plays, but for his leadership, character, and connection with the Red Storm community. He averaged impressive numbers on the court and served as a cornerstone of the team’s identity under head coach Rick Pitino.

The announcement triggered an outpouring of support from fans, teammates, and alumni alike.

Head Coach Rick Pitino responded with praise and understanding:
“He gave everything to this program. He played with heart, humility, and hustle every night. We support him 100% in whatever path he chooses.”

In his farewell message, the player also reflected on his journey and expressed gratitude:
“To the fans — thank you for believing in me. You’ve shown me love through wins and losses, through good games and bad. I’ll never forget the sound of you cheering, the signs with my name, and the pride of wearing that jersey.”

Though his departure marks the end of an era, his legacy at St. John’s is secure. From buzzer-beaters to selfless hustle plays, he helped bring energy and pride back to the program.

The future may be uncertain, but one thing is clear — wherever he goes next, he carries the heart of Red Storm Nation with him.

Sabbath formed the year I was born, first song I learned on guitar was Sweet L3af, saw Ozzy in ‘82 just after the plane crash, countless Ozfest’s, 1998 reunion show, etc etc….. I’ve seen a lot of fans talking about what band was uninvited, or who didn’t live up to the hype, or which band shouldn’t have been there… I watched the entire show and, for me, the lifetime soundtrack was as touching and meaningful as a McCartney concert…

This just popped up as a memory from my regular page. I believe part of his payment was for the cords to hook up all his pedals. Jake said he had those all hooked up.

Ever since I first heard him on the Bark At The Moon album, I’ve been a huge fan Of Jake E. Lee. I’ve seen him play with Ozzy twice, Badlands once and his solo band 3 or 4 times and have met him twice. He is one of the nicest, humblest people you can ever be lucky to meet.

Jake, it’s so nice to see you back on a big stage. I remember when I was 14 and I tried to play your solos on the guitar and I never succeeded. Don’t isolate yourself anymore, do it for your many fans around the world.
