OCKED IN: WVU Football Extends QB Nicco Marchiol Through 2029

June 25, 2025 – Morgantown, WV

The West Virginia Mountaineers have officially secured their quarterback of the future. WVU announced today that quarterback Nicco Marchiol has formally accepted a four-year contract extension, locking him in with the team through the end of the 2029 season.

The decision comes after months of speculation regarding Marchiol’s future, as his rising stock, strong on-field performances, and leadership qualities had drawn attention from programs across the country. Instead of entering the transfer portal or exploring professional opportunities, Marchiol has made a definitive statement: he’s staying in Morgantown.

“Nicco is a Mountaineer through and through,” said WVU head coach Neal Brown during the press conference. “His commitment to this program, this university, and this state is unmatched. We’re excited to have him leading this team for the next several years.”

Marchiol, who took over as WVU’s starting quarterback in 2024, has grown into a cornerstone of the Mountaineer offense. Known for his poise in the pocket and dual-threat ability, he led the team to a 9-4 record last season, including a memorable bowl game victory over Arkansas. He threw for over 3,100 yards and added 27 total touchdowns — quickly becoming a fan favorite and team leader.

“It’s always been about building something special here,” Marchiol said in a statement. “West Virginia took a chance on me, and I’ve always felt the love from this community. I’m here to finish what we started.”

The four-year extension effectively functions as a long-term agreement within the framework of modern NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) compensation and team development strategy, ensuring that Marchiol remains the face of the program both on and off the field. While college athletes are not bound by traditional “contracts” in the legal sense, this deal, facilitated in coordination with WVU Athletics and the school’s NIL collective, offers financial and developmental incentives that reflect the growing professionalism within college football.

“Nicco’s extension represents where the game is going,” said WVU Athletic Director Wren Baker. “It’s not just about playing time or stats anymore — it’s about loyalty, leadership, and vision. We believe in Nicco, and clearly, he believes in us.”

Fans across West Virginia are celebrating the news as a major win for the program, which has made consistent strides under Coach Brown in recent years. With a strong core of returning players, a top-25 recruiting class, and now the confirmed presence of Marchiol under center, expectations for 2025 and beyond are high.

“Now it’s time to go to work,” Marchiol added. “We’ve got goals to chase and championships to win.”

As college football continues to evolve, the Mountaineers are sending a clear message: stability at quarterback still matters — and WVU just locked in one of the best young leaders in the game.Let me know if you’d like this formatted for social media or with quotes from fictional teammates, alumni, or fans!

Led Zeppelin the Best Band of all time Led#1 forever, Led Zeppelin, formed in 1968, consisted of Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham. After reshaping the sound of rock with their debut Led Zeppelin (1969), they followed with Led Zeppelin II (1969), III (1970), and IV (1971), which featured the immortal “Stairway to Heaven.” The band seamlessly blended blues, hard rock, and folk influences with unmatched intensity. Physical Graffiti (1975) and Presence (1976) showed their experimental range, while In Through the Out Door (1979) reflected musical evolution. Known for mystique and explosive live shows, Zeppelin avoided releasing singles, encouraging full-album experiences. The band dissolved after Bonham’s death in 1980, but their 2007 reunion at the O2 Arena proved their enduring magic. Selling over 300 million records, Led Zeppelin are Rock Hall inductees and cultural cornerstones, often cited as the greatest rock band in history.

Sabbath formed the year I was born, first song I learned on guitar was Sweet L3af, saw Ozzy in ‘82 just after the plane crash, countless Ozfest’s, 1998 reunion show, etc etc….. I’ve seen a lot of fans talking about what band was uninvited, or who didn’t live up to the hype, or which band shouldn’t have been there… I watched the entire show and, for me, the lifetime soundtrack was as touching and meaningful as a McCartney concert…

This just popped up as a memory from my regular page. I believe part of his payment was for the cords to hook up all his pedals. Jake said he had those all hooked up.
