Rangers aim to recoup their £4.5 million transfer fee for Cyriel Dessers, who joined from Cremonese last summer. Despite starting for most of the season under Michael Beale and Philippe Clement, the striker’s debut season at Ibrox was enigmatic.
However, it appears that this has not deterred a number of clubs from pursuing his signature, as it was reported last week that he had submitted a transfer request in response to interest from Greek club PAOK. Saudi teams are also claimed to be “monitoring” the striker, and it appears the 29-year-old still has some resale value if Rangers decide to split ways. According to the Rangers Review, they want to bank £4.5 million to cover the amount they paid for the striker a year ago.
As well as interest from Saudi Arabia and PAOK, it’s noted that clubs in Ligue 1 and La Liga are keen on Dessers who is “considering his options'”ahead of the new season. The news comes after a double blow on the incoming front, with a move for Kenny McLean now ‘off’ while wing target Yusuf Kabadayi is set to join FC Augsburg.
According to the report, Hamza Igamane is expected to join, and if Dessers leaves, Clement will be left with only Danilo and the new man up front. Sam Lammers, Robby McCrorie, Scott Wright, and Todd Cantwell are also expected to leave, after being involved in a bizarre gaffe involving Liverpool hero Jose Enrique earlier on Wednesday.
