The popular belief that Luis Robert Jr. will play for the White Sox in the upcoming season is not universally accepted.
Chris Getz was asked if he would consider dealing Luis Robert Jr. during the Winter Meetings.
The baseball community has been operating with the assumption that Luis Robert Jr. would be playing for the Chicago White Sox the next season since the beginning of free agency.
At the Winter Meetings in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday, White Sox General Manager Chris Getz actually stated as much.
“Luis Robert is a very difficult player to move and expect that your club is going to get better because of it,” Getz stated. Having said that, there may be a club nearby that is prepared to provide you with something you believe will benefit you both now and down the road.
However, we’re discussing one of the greatest
On the other hand, another insider disputes the idea that the All-Star Slugger is no longer available.
The MLB Network’s Jon Morosi stated that he would not be shocked to see the White Sox trade Robert Jr. this offseason in a conversation with Chuck Garfien of NBC Sports Chicago.
“Luis Robert is a very difficult player to move and expect that your club is going to get better because of it,” Getz stated. Having said that, there may be a club nearby that is prepared to provide you with something you believe will benefit you both now and down the road.
“However, we’re speaking about one of baseball’s greatest players, and the Chicago White Sox are extremely lucky to have him.” I find it difficult to see him in a different uniform the next year.”
This is consistent with Bob Nightengale of USA Today saying that the White Sox are willing to trade every player on the roster with the exception of Robert Jr.
But a further insider is disputing the
“I could see anybody [on the White Sox] getting traded,” Morosi stated. “I find it difficult to conclude that these players are untouchable when you underperform to the extent that they did.
“Despite the fact that each of them is an excellent major league player, their combination did not work. For the White Sox in 2023, the whole was far smaller than the sum of its parts. And nothing that says these players are outside bounds should exist when you have a squad like that.
Additionally, he said that the White Sox would be able to assemble their squad faster if they traded Robert Jr.
“Look at the Twins three or four years ago,” he stated. There was not much evidence to suggest that they would be as
“The Mariners have the kind of pitching that the White Sox want,” he stated. “You would even need to consider Logan Gilbert if it’s Robert, in addition to Bryan Woo and Brett Miller. If you want to pitch, go there.”
