Auburn officially announced on Friday that Vontrell King-Williams has been promoted to the position of defensive tackles coach. This news confirms earlier tidings from Rivals and 247Sports on Wednesday.
King-Williams worked under head coach Hugh Freeze at Liberty before joining Auburn’s team as an analyst in 2023.
King-Williams replaces Jeremy Garrett, who was rumored to have accepted a position with the Jacksonville Jaguars but hasn’t been made public yet.
Garrett was in charge of the full defensive line. King-Williams being announced as the defensive tackles coach has meant some shuffling among Auburn’s defensive staff
Josh Aldridge, who coached the linebackers in 2023, will now coach the edge rushers. Defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin will be assigned the inside linebackers. Co-defensive coordinator Charles Kelly will coach the safeties and Wesley McGriff will coach the cornerbacks.
Auburn’s staff is once again full heading into spring practices and the 2024 season. Any changes going forward would be from the departure of a current staff member. Below is Auburn’s full staff as of Feb. 9.
