– Milan Lucic, a forward with the Boston Bruins, is scheduled to go on trial for assault next month.
He briefly appeared in Boston Municipal Court on Friday via Zoom, and the judge scheduled the case’s trial for February 16.
On November 18, Lucic, 35, was taken into custody by the police after they claim he assaulted his wife at their Boston home while intoxicated. On the accusation of assault and battery on a family member, he entered a not guilty plea. After being freed, he was told not to drink.
The Bruins have placed Lucic on a “indefinite leave of absence” at this time. In four games this season, he had two assists, his first since the 2014–15 campaign in Boston. Due to an ankle injury, he was placed on injured reserve in October. Following his arrest, Lucic enrolled in the NHL/NHLPA player assistance program. The program supports athletes and their families who are battling problems related to mental health, drug misuse, and other concerns.
