The Atlanta Braves don’t seem to be finished despite their busy summer.
In addition to adding additional arms to the bullpen and upgrading a few spots like reserve outfielder, the Atlanta Braves might still improve their squad after acquiring some much-needed assets through trades.
Before Opening Day, Mark Powell of Fansided wrote that the Atlanta Braves could trade Braves designated hitter Marcell Ozuna. Given his contract ($16 million for 2024) and the inconsistent quality of his 2023 season with the Braves, Ozuna’s value is in doubt. Still, he had 40 home runs in the previous campaign. Powell alluded to remarks made in November by Mark Bowman of MLB.com.
“At different points over the past couple years, the Braves tried to swap Ozuna for the likes of Patrick Corbin or Madison Bumgarner, a pair of left-handed pitchers with negative value,” Bowman stated in November. “Now, instead of swapping bad contracts, they actually could trade Ozuna to help gain something in return.”
28 days. Pitchers and catchers are anticipated to report on Monday, February 12th, ahead of Atlanta’s first spring training game against the Tampa Bay Rays on February 24th. The reporting date will be formally announced in January.
