Aston Villa has signed Jill Baijings on loan for the 2024/25 season. Baijings previously played for Heerenveen and SGS Essen before joining Bayer Leverkusen. She scored on her league debut against MSV Duisburg in September 2022 and made 15 appearances and two assists for Alexander Straus’ side.
Lee Billiard, Head of Women’s Football at Aston Villa, said: “We are delighted to add Jill. She is a player we have tracked for a while and believe she has a lot of key attributes that would strengthen the team’s performances. Jill is a young player with great experience who we look forward to welcoming.”
Baijings will relish the opportunity to play under Robert de Pauw once again, having enjoyed a successful 2022/23 campaign with Bayer Leverkusen under the Dutchman’s guidance. She started 22 matches across all competitions in that season, scoring seven goals and picking up a further six assists.
Baijings will look to make her Barclays Women’s Super League debut in September, with the first matches of the 2024/25 season scheduled to take place on the weekend of Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 September.
