Given that the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline is less than a week away, it seems sense that the Boston Bruins are scouring the trade market. It is expected that they will try to expand their group. Nonetheless, there’s a likelihood that at least one of the team’s roster players is sold given their limited salary space, lack of draft picks, and small pool of prospects.
As a result, Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk appears in their bubble list in The Fourth Period’s revised Trade Watch List.
Regarding the possibility of DeBrusk being traded, TFP stated as follows: “The Bruins have limited salary cap room, so any significant addition made before the deadline will have to result in a body leaving the roster. Boston has been quietly shopping DeBrusk, who can become a UFA this summer, but they aren’t in a rush to move him. If they make another move, the cap might end up killing him.”
DeBrusk, 27, has been a member of the Bruins’ top six for a considerable amount of time, so his departure would be noteworthy. But given that his contract is about to expire and that he’s having a difficult season, it’s reasonable to question if Boston would be open to parting ways with him in exchange for a valuable player like defenseman Noah Hanifin of the Calgary Flames.
Additionally, DeBrusk recently revealed that there has been no movement in the deal negotiations between him and the Bruins. That might, of course, affect his availability this week.
This season, DeBrusk has made 61 appearances and totaled 14 goals, 29 points, and a plus-10 rating. It would still be dangerous to trade him even though his offensive has decreased this season. He can have a significant impact on the team when he plays well, thus trading him could leave another hole in their lineup.
