IT’S A BATTLE: The Detroit Red Wings are upbeat about their four-game winning streak in these trying times.
Notes for the game: The Detroit Red Wings will play their first North American game of the season against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
This season, the Wings and Leafs have only faced off once, in Stockholm, Sweden. The game was a part of the NHL’s Global Series, and the Wings defeated 3-2.
The Wings had one of their better hockey runs of the season after their disappointing November loss to the Leafs overseas. The team won six out of seven games and three in a row after returning to the United States.
The lost game in Sweden is especially hurtful because the Leafs are one of the clubs the Wings are chasing in the Atlantic Division.
Recently, the Wings and Leafs have faced many of the same opponents. Thus far this month, both teams have faced the Los Angeles Kings, Anaheim Ducks, and San Jose Sharks, going 7-0 overall in those encounters.
