There have long been tales of turmoil in the locker room surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles, whose path to their second consecutive Super Bowl participation ended prematurely.
The Eagles finished the previous season with a 10-1 record after dropping six of their final seven games. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers eliminated them in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
A.J. Brown has been implicated in rumors as he has been observed becoming enraged while watching games and has spoken negatively to the media.
During the team’s losing stretch, Brown avoided talking to media much because of rumors that he was dividing the locker room.
However, Brown made the decision to speak with afternoon drive anchors Ike Reese and Jack Fritz by calling Philadelphia’s WIP radio.
Brown stated that he was motivated to confront the hosts due to the rumors that they have been “making up.”
“You guys are meant to be Philly’s supporters, but that’s not how it works out. Why fabricate so many tales? The majority of rumors aren’t even true rumors. Brown stated on the program, “These are rumors that you guys are making up, and everybody ran with it.
Reese, a former Eagle, countered that they weren’t particularly reporting anything. Reese stated that instead, they frequently discuss reports and hypotheticals to pass the time and provide material for a four-hour show five days a week.
Although Brown was aware of Reese’s perspective, he nevertheless took aim at the Philadelphia media, claiming to be misunderstood and to have been picked out specifically.
“It becomes annoying because everything I say or do is ten times more magnified.” I fit the definition of a diva. I want the ball, I want this, I want that, etc. However, when it’s the other way around, you assume it’s about objectives because you’ve witnessed me become agitated on the sidelines. What if I am making my players answer for their actions? What if I’m the guy that pushes everyone in the locker room and causes discomfort in an effort to help the team and myself improve? What if that guy is me? Jalen doesn’t display it as frequently since it doesn’t fit with who he is.
“But, in all honesty, I’m the one you need on the team because, although nobody sees it, I’ll keep people accountable and improve those around me. You just witness the minor outbursts and such. To be honest, no one works harder in that building than me, so you can see the flare-ups.
“I put in more effort and preparation than everyone else in that building. I can assert that and abide by it. You can see the passion as a result. That explains why you witness my behavior. Since no one else spends that much time as I do. I can say that with certainty. You don’t understand me. I’m not even attempting to communicate with others since you won’t be able to comprehend me because you are not in my position.”
