Tyrese Maxey, the guard for the Philadelphia 76ers, has surged to prominence this season after making steady progress in his first two seasons. In addition to receiving his first-ever All-Star nomination, a former champion expressed audacity about him.
On a recent FanDuel TV episode of Run It Back, Metta World Peace talked about his feelings about Maxey. In his opinion, the Sixers star is the best player in the game and isn’t receiving the same recognition as some of his more accomplished teammates.
“He is putting that energy on both sides with his engine. That’s something I really like,” World Peace remarked. He’ll have a commanding presence. Undoubtedly, he’s among the league’s greatest players. He’s better, but people aren’t talking about him the way they are talking about other stars.”
Maxey had the makings of an electrifying scorer from the beginning, and he now displays that ability every night. Embiid is the Sixers’ top option, and he’s prospering as a three-level scorer. Maxey is averaging 25.8 points per game, 3.8 points per game, and 6.8 assists this season.
With Embiid sidelined by injury for several weeks, Maxey has been asked to spearhead the Sixers’ offensive efforts. He’s put on some incredible performances lately. most famously in a victory over the Utah Jazz, where he scored 51 points on 63% shooting.
These remarks make it quite evident that Metta World Peace thinks highly of Maxey. Although it may be a reach to call the Sixers guard the best player in the league, there’s no doubting he has established himself as one of the best young guards in the league.
